The Deer Island Club 1908 Handbook
A printed Deer Island Club handbook from 1908 provides insight on the nature of life on the island as well as details of the more important building ruins, the “Outlook” and “The Stone House”.
It is interesting to note that the members of the Deer Island Club appear to be an optional subset of the Skull & Bones Society. Members who knew they wanted to frequent the Island as a summer retreat would be “club members” but any S&B member could also plan a visit, with or without family and friends whose presence would require accommodation in The Ledges, a separate building that still exists.
