Portrait of George Douglas Miller who inherited Deer Island from his father, Samuel Miller.

Mr. Miller provided Deer Island and at least three of its largest structures to Skull & Bones members for summer use as "The Deer Island Club" beginning about 1907. The entire island was apparently deeded to The Russel Trust (Skull & Bones) in 1927 when Mr. Miller was 71 years old.
